Rotten Borough: Lyne

The term rotten borough refers to a parliamentary borough or constituency small in size but large in influence. Disproportionate power of a tiny place still able to elect a lower house candidate or influence the whole Parliament defines the rotten borough beyond its original stricter meaning.

Another term for this sort of consituency is a pocket borough, as they were seen as being "in the pocket" of a patron. This pocket borough concept is alive and well in Australia.

Lyne, the electorate of the closet socialist would-be robber baron Rob Oakeshott, is a classic pocket borough, with Oakeshott doing everything he can to be the patron of the rotten borough.

We have uncovered and exposed his network and the facts are now being "retweeted" in the world of radio, and perhaps sooner or later on television, by mainstream media. Oakeshott is particularly repugnant and even the otherwise on-side media have turned on him- although very gently so far.

A notable exception is Ray Hadley on 2GB and his needling of Oakeshott and repetition of the facts about his patronage system in his electorate could lead to Oakeshott's resignation. That might sound unbelievable but it isn't really. Oakeshott is no genius and it's the opinion of some people in his electorate that his patronage may well have crossed the line somewhere. Even if that opinion is wrong Oakeshott exposed not only his own despicable lack of values but also the valueless desire for power at any costs of the socialist junta led publicly by Gillard.

Keep fighting, email you local politicians, the political leaders, local media, and keep the fire burning for reform. Not what Oakeshott meant by reform- business as usual in sheep's clothing- but real reform and accountability.

THEY WORK FOR US

We will keep fighting, and WE WILL WIN

  2. FYI he is seeking the speaker job because the speaker traditionally has no one stand against him/her, ie it's a way for him to "fix" the next election. As we've said, we'll put a candidate up if the political parties fail us. Oakeshott and Windsor (and a lot of others!) must go.

The good news is, a lot of them can be thrown out over a matter of 1000 votes or less. Motivate those you know and talk to and your own electorate might be bringing the good news whenever the next poll happens.

    Maintain the rage!

    THEY WORK FOR US

    WE PAY THEIR WAGES

THEY ANSWER TO US EVERY DAY NOT JUST ON ELECTION DAY

  4. Not sure what yr saying "Anonymous". Oakeshott ratted on his electorate, anyone can see he's a moronic sleazy rat.
There is no justification for the independents siding with a failed, ridiculous, incompetent mob of idiots. Also throwing in their lot with the Greens and their crazy agenda, most of which is anathema to most Australians.
The sooner this creaking, redistribution-oriented pack of dinosaur Marxist fools is consigned to the "dustbin of history" the better.
I couldn't believe Australians would vote in this pack of clowns again, but I guess the dole-bludging, multi-cultural hand-out merchants and the bribed electorate all played their part.
