Slipper already has an expenses scandal under his belt so in terms of morals (he has none) he's a great fit for the ALP-Greens coalition.

UPDATE
Media Statement from Alex Somlyay
24/09/10
I can confirm that I have been approached by the Gillard Government, through the Leader of the House, the Hon Anthony Albanese, to stand as their nominee for the position of Deputy Speaker on the basis that I would support the Government on no confidence motions and supply bills.
I have declined this approach.
I have been a proud member of the Liberal Party Room for 21 years and my commitment to serve the Liberal-National Party remains strong.
After discussions with both the Labor Party and my own leader, the Hon Tony Abbott MHR, I confirm that I will be contesting the nomination for the position of Deputy Speaker in the Coalition Party Room on Monday.
I support the Coalition’s decision to reject any pairing arrangements for the Speaker and Deputy Speaker positions on the basis that such pairing is inconsistent with the Constitution.

Rotten Borough: Lyne
Another term for this sort of consituency is a pocket borough, as they were seen as being "in the pocket" of a patron. This pocket borough concept is alive and well in Australia.
Lyne, the electorate of the closet socialist would-be robber baron Rob Oakeshott, is a classic pocket borough, with Oakeshott doing everything he can to be the patron of the rotten borough.
We have uncovered and exposed his network and the facts are now being "retweeted" in the world of radio, and perhaps sooner or later on television, by mainstream media. Oakeshott is particularly repugnant and even the otherwise on-side media have turned on him- although very gently so far.
A notable exception is Ray Hadley on 2GB and his needling of Oakeshott and repetition of the facts about his patronage system in his electorate could lead to Oakeshott's resignation. That might sound unbelievable but it isn't really. Oakeshott is no genius and it's the opinion of some people in his electorate that his patronage may well have crossed the line somewhere. Even if that opinion is wrong Oakeshott exposed not only his own despicable lack of values but also the valueless desire for power at any costs of the socialist junta led publicly by Gillard.
Keep fighting, email you local politicians, the political leaders, local media, and keep the fire burning for reform. Not what Oakeshott meant by reform- business as usual in sheep's clothing- but real reform and accountability.
THEY WORK FOR US
We will keep fighting, and WE WILL WIN

Having a beer with him is hysterical. They asked him at interview if he “believed in climate change”. he’s a natural born bullsh*tter himself and he saw which way the wind was blowing and fed them babblespeak.
Most of them creamed themselves with joy. He said it was obviously a closed shop. Only true believers got in.
Now, he reckons it’s a clear breach of the Public Service rules to have to say you “believe” in something the Dept deals with before getting a job there - but nobody who did not say yes (and with messianic enthusiasm) EVER got past an interview panel that he saw.
On the policy level they just make crap up on the fly, or called the Greens and get ‘science’ from them. POLICY is based on this approach. Policy they spend your hard-earned on.
Most of the staff have no idea that anyone in the world disagrees with AGW.
It’s a flaming shambles and a colossal waste of money according to him, and he worked there. It got so bad (he had nothing to do for half his time there), that he’d wander over to a mutual friend’s Department for ‘meetings’ and do work for them just so he could look at himself in the shaving mirror each morning and know he was doing something for Joe Public to justify his pay.
Others, including his boss, would ‘go to a meeting all afternoon’ every time there was a new movie in town.
Their secretary gave a Greenie babblespeak to some oil conference last year and literally got laughed at. He was giving straight Greens talking points to a highly educated, technically literate audience and they just shredded the guy.
He can go on for hours with yarns from the place, and it’s ALL bad.
